The Best Vegetarian Restaurants in Toronto

The best vegetarian restaurants in Toronto are doing veggie bowls and beefless burgers when you're looking to eat out meat-free. Replace braised pork with hibiscus flowers on your tacos or stuff yourself with a seven-item thalis loaded with delicious Indian eats.

Here are the best vegetarian restaurants in Toronto.

11 - Brar Sweets

Expect an extravaganza of delicious malai kofta, channa, and buttery naan at this Etobicoke hot counter. Known for its incredibly affordable seven-item thalis, this Indian food brand is also known for its Grand Buffet location in Brampton, which has even more selection than this strip mall spot.

3 - Planta

Chef David Lee's brand is a vegan empire at this point. Planta launched as a Yorkville destination in 2016 and has since expanded with a second Asian-focused menu on Queen Street. They've branched into Mexican with Planta Cocina and have an entire offshoot for their famous vegan burgers too.

4 - Fresh on Front

The city's original vegan chain launched in 1999 and now has a whopping eight locations across Toronto, and another in L.A. Cold-pressed juices, Beyond Meat cheeseburgers and some world-famous quinoa onion rings keep people coming back to Fresh for more.

5 - Hogtown Vegan on College

Southern comfort food doesn't usually bring soy to mind, but Hogtown was one of the first to do it with a menu of eats like unChicken combos and vegan Mac 'n Cheez. The restaurant is down to one location on College since closing its Bloor Street spot.

6 - Parka Food Co.

This Queen West spot hits the spot with boxes of Mac N' Cashew cheese with toppings like truffle mushrooms and quinoa chili. Other hearty eats include delicious organic portobello mushroom burgers and chipotle cauliflower bowls.

7 - Kupfert & Kim on Spadina

The folks behind this multi-location chain take their meatless and wheatless M.O. very seriously. Tahini burgers, veggie-packed lasagnas and brown rice bowls are on the menu at all nine K&K locations. The Yorkville bistro also offers brunch items like eggs benedict with vegan hollandaise.

8 - Hello 123

Kimchi burgers and all-day brunch are on the menu at this restaurant on West Queen West, another offshoot of the Kupfert and Kim brand. Vegan gouda cheese burgers are a big draw here but an order of Irene's Massive Breakfast is the real breakfast of champions.

9 - Urban Herbivore

This OG of Toronto's fast casual vegetarian scene was the first plant-based brand in North America to launch in a mall. Their Eaton Centre stall closed two years ago and locations in Annex Food Hall and College Street are no more, but Urban Herbivore is still running the original in Kensington Market.

10 - La Bartola

Little Italy's colourful restaurant for meatless Mexican serves thoughtful eats without leaning on mock meat. Tostadas, tacos, and tetelas sometimes made with tinga chicken or pibil are instead served with veggies and other herby flavours. All tortillas are made from non-GMO corn.
