Alright, so not exactly a new in town but more of moved to somewhere new in town. Remember the hole-in-the-wall Maxi Coffee Bar along Club Street? That all but 100 square feet hideout and perhaps the epitome of a cosy corner? Well, from the last time we visited them, Maxi Coffee Bar has decided to put their name to good use and maximise their space a little.
Just as charming as their last space, Maxi Coffe Bar is now located at Ann Siang Hill in a shophouse no less and decked out in a gorgeous shade of blue. From the tiles to their counter space, it’s a third wave coffee house that screams Sunday brunch.
Aside from their stellar coffees, Maxi Coffee Bar has also expanded their menu to include more light bites such as the Not An Egg Sandwich (S$8) which is made with preserved egg as one of the ingredients on a thick white toast—that certainly got my interest piqued.
The sweet tooth in me cannot resist having a go at Sugartown (S$6) which is an iteration of their famous Iced Cereal Milk Latte (S$7.50). How perfect would that be on a Saturday afternoon?
Those who always had a thing for Maxi Coffee Bar’s old space, you can be rest assured that their greatest hits like The ‘Dirty’ (S$7.50) and E & T (S$7.50) are still around. While you are there, treat yourself to some Toast and House Spreads (S$4.50) as well.
When it comes to coffeehouses there is pretty stiff competition in Singapore, from King Cart’s Coffee to the minimalist Narrative Coffee Stand our coffee game is just as strong as our bubble tea one. If you still cannot get enough coffee houses, here is a list of third-wave coffee spots that you’ll have to cross off your list.
