[Closed] Yoogane the No. 1 Chicken Galbi brand in Korea with more than 170 outlets in South Korea, East Asia and Southeast Asia, has closed its last outlet in Singapore at Westgate on the 1st of November. (Also read: 60 Singapore Restaurants & Cafes Which Closed In 2020)
However, according to its Facebook announcement, they will be “coming back new and different”.
Yoogane originated in Busan, South Korea back in 1981 and has set itself apart from other chicken galbi competitors with its unique blend of sauces and seasoning.
Dubbed as the No. 1 Chicken Galbi in Korea, they have been in the business for more almost 40 years.
This stir-fried Chicken Galbi begins with chunks of chicken meat marinated in a unique spicy sauce, cooked in a hot iron pan in front with diners, along with fresh ingredients of tteok (rice cakes), cabbage, potatoes, and sliced leeks – till they all turn soft with flavours absorbed.
Yoogane in Singapore used to have outlets at Bugis Junction, 313@somerset and Tampines Mall, but they all closed the last year.
In case you have not realised, Isaac Toast brought in by the same group to Singapore, also closed its Plaza Singapura Basement 2 kiosk a month ago.
Known for its Korean-style sandwiches such as Double Spicy Cutlet, Bulgogi MVP, Bulgalbi MVP, Hot Chicken MVP, Shrimp MVP and more, they created some buzz when it first opened.
Unfortunately, the hype quickly dwindled when fans realised the taste was not quite the same as what they would get in Korea.
They are now only available via GrabFood with its GrabKitchen operations at Hillview.
