If you like a fluffier, light and airy cake, their Ichigo (meaning Strawberry in Japanese), will be right up your alley. Despite being a simple strawberry shortcake, it is one of their most popular cakes. For a more indulgent treat, try their sliced matcha roll cake. A hidden gem in Liang Court, this Japanese patisserie serves up some great cakes and pastries. It’s the perfect place to tuck into a sweet midday slice of chiffon (or two). We especially love their Double Cheese Chiffon Cheesecake and their Choux Puffs!

Dulcet & Studio’s cheesecake was super creamy with a slight tang, which toned down the sweetness of the cake. Their choux puffs were also chocked full of milky cream filling. They introduce new flavours of choux puffs from time to time, so expect some surprises when you visit!

Hidden away in the quiet streets of Kreta Ayer is the tiniest bakery – Sugar Thieves. They are still rather new, but are a strong contender in the pastry scene of Singapore, serving up various pastries and flavours of croissants.

One of their newest creations, the Avo, is a unique spin on an avocado. They use an actual avocado skin to craft this pastry, and it’s layered with chocolate sponge, avocado cheesecake mousse and topped with a macadamia nut praline ‘seed’; An eye-catching dessert that makes you do a double take when you first see it.

Voyage Patisserie is a hidden gem in Outram Park, snugly squeezed into a stretch of shophouses. They serve minimalistic desserts and indulgent pastries till midnight on Fridays and Saturdays just in case you were craving a late-night treat.

For a sweet cake with an even sweeter backstory, give their Cynthia cake a try. It is a rose-shaped cake, named after the chef’s girlfriend and this confection was the first ever ‘rose’ he gave to her.
