Dine-In at SG F&B Outlets With Post-CB Phase 2 as Early as End-June

As we draw ever closer to the end of the ‘Circuit Breaker’ period on 2 June 2020 and to Phase 1 of safe re-opening, I’m sure many of us are itching to meet up with our friends again. Or even better, luxuriate in dining out at our favourite restaurants, hawker stalls and cafes.

The government has announced that the ‘Circuit Breaker’ period will end on 2 June 2020, and Singapore will gradually reopen in three phases.

Phase 1

Well, while we still won’t be allowed to dine-in at F&B outlets in Phase 1, the good news is that home-based businesses—with delivery and collection—will be allowed to operate.

So, you can get your brownies, cupcakes and more from your favourite home baker.

Phase 2

Phase 2 is where things get a little better. Assuming infection rates remain low, F&B dine-in outlets will be allowed to re-open gradually.

Yes, that means you can finally sit down in front of your favourite Hokkien mee stall and dig into a piping hot plate of noodles without having to #tapauplease. You can also gather in groups of up to five, so you can finally meet up with your friends/boyfriend/girlfriend/colleagues for a quick cuppa.

Minister Lawrence Wong has even said that depending on the community transmission rates, Phase 2 might take place as early as end-June 2020. Fingers crossed—that means it’s all the more reason we should take social distancing seriously now.

Phase 3

Because it could take quite a while to develop a vaccine, Singapore will remain in Phase 3, our ‘new normal’ amidst COVID-19.

While most of our social and economic activities will resume, remember that we’ll still have to keep up with safe management measures.

For now, as we look forward to 2 June 2020, let’s continue to #StayHome and stay safe.
