Another Corona assault as the latest news from Berlin gastro is that celebrity gastronomer, Sarah Wiener, declares bankruptcy. The company holds numerous restos in Berlin, a full fledged catering operation and their own farm in Brandenburg. Only last year they opened a restaurant in the new Futurium building in addition to their almost twenty year old restaurant at the Hamburger Bahnhoff Museum. While its unclear what the future will hold, the word is that they will continue with emphasis on food production rather than gastro. Wiener had spoken of worries in May, but with the closures, restrictions and lost tourist business, it seems like events like this will only continue. Always sad to see a resto go, but especially a company that employs over one hundred people. Crossing fingers that they will be able to pull through.
