Do you know that Starker means “stronger”?
Okay. There were various versions of a WhatsApp message widely circulated, which listed down 40 Singapore F&B which closed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 situation.
One of the names that raised the most eyebrows in this viral list is “Stärker Group”.
The group with a chain of bistros and signature restaurants providing live music is best known for German-style fresh beer, and hearty big-portioned eats such as Pork Knuckles, Baby Back Ribs, and Braised Lamb Shank.
Fans love its unique German-style beer, freshly brewed in Singapore, from the classic to unique flavours of Lager, Dunkel, Charcoal, Aromatic and Lychee.
There are currently quite a number of Stärker outlets, locaed in Zhongshan Park, HillV2, Katong Square, JEM, Holland Village, Guoco Tower, and Punggol Central.
So the question: Is Stärker Group really closed?
Since its social media still states “temporarily closed” and there have been no further updates.
After I did some checks, I found out that there will be a “Notice of Creditors Meeting” under section 209 of the Companies Act to be held on the 10th of June 2020 for “Starker Brewery Pte Ltd” and “Starker F&B Pte Ltd”.
The meeting which will be conducted via video-conferencing, is to estimate amounts of creditors’ claim, appointing a liquidator, appointing a committee of inspection and other businesses.
We will find out its official fate after that meeting.
