I really love travelling to Japan, and a big part of why I love Japan so much has got to be the food there! I’m not sure if it’s just me, but it seems like even the random stalls along the streets in Japan serve up amazing food. Now that we are encouraged to stay home, I find myself craving for Japanese food the most. So I’ve sussed out 14 places where you and I can get delicious Japanese food!

Do you love all things truffle? If you do, you gotta check out the truffle-infused Japanese rice bowls at Chirashi King Kong. They are a hipster joint that serves up aromatic truffle rice topped with your choice of fish. The Salmon Mentaiko Rice Bowl features slices of salmon covered with a generous amount of mentaiko sauce, and a bed of truffle-infused rice. The fragrance of the truffle oil was strong enough, but not too overwhelming. The combination of flavours in this dish was very well balanced. If you’re not too big a fan of rice, you can check out their Salmon Mentaiko Spaghetti which was also very delicious! They are now available for delivery on GrabFood!

Nestled within Amoy Street Food Centre is Big Bowls Project which sells tasty salmon bowls and is 100% Muslim-owned. Their salmon bowls come in a few flavours; Mentaiko, Black Pepper, Szechuan Black Bean, Homemade Recipe and Tomyum. Each bowl features a slab of salmon in your preferred marinade served atop Jasmine Brown Rice or Baby Spinach Salad, an Onsen Egg and choice of 2 sides. The Mentaiko Salmon was well executed with an impressive Mentaiko sauce. The fish was tender and there was a nice smoky char to it. The Szechuan Black Bean Salmon was reminiscent of the sauce smeared on traditional Chinese-style steamed fish. Check out their FB page for more updates on their menu offerings.
