Yes, I know, I know. Dong Ding Oolong.
Taiwanese brand CHICHA San Chen (吃茶三千) though a relatively newcomer in Singapore’s market, has grown to more than 10 branches in a short period of time.
They happen to be one of those BBT brands that are not that famous in Taiwan, but somehow found much popularity in Singapore. (Though I know there are people who still struggle with the brand name of chi-cha-san-qian, which means “eat tea three thousand”.)
Its success is perhaps a combination of the quality of tea, the marketing & branding, uniform, packaging (that rope) and that the tea is brewed using a Teapresso method – though they were not the first in Singapore to do so.
The Teapresso machine allows more than 1,000 custom settings and three-stage temperature control brewing technique to bring out the tea’s best flavour and natural scent.
Brewed-to-order one cup at a time, their teas are a product of over 20 years of experience.
So do prepared to wait a little while for your drinks.
Their Dong Ding Oolong Fresh Milk Tea (my personal favourite, esp with konjac jelly), Fruit Tea, Bubble Milk Tea, Fresh Milk with Brown Sugar Bubble, High Mountain Pouchong Tea with Lemon Juice, Cassia Black Tea with Mousse, and Honey Osmanthus Oolong Tea count as some of their recommended ones.
While their Fresh Milk with Brown Sugar Bubble ($5.00) is slightly on the sweet size, there was distinct caramelised taste, and bubbles were quite chewy and delicious too. A crowd favourite.
Another tea that is light but refreshing is the Green Tea with Mousse ($4.70).
You can taste the premium-ness in their matcha, served with a luscious cream on top and presented in a trendy, sustainable fashion.
[Circuit Breaker Special] For the period of the “Circuit Breaker”, CHICHA San Chen has collaborated with their Duck Rice neighbours (Yu Kee) at Connexis to offer islandwide delivery via GrabFood, or via foodpanda from Fusionopolis outlet (limited areas).
The main you have to order is the Braised Duck Set ($8.00) with braised duck meat, egg, beancurd, beansprouts and peanuts.
For orders less than $20, an order fee applies. Also note that for “islandwide delivery” on Grabfood, the delivery fee varies by distance and it can add up to quite a bit.
The drinks available are also limited though, which includes Bubble Milk Tea ($6.00), Fruit Tea ($6.50), Fresh Milk with Brown Sugar Bubble ($6.50). Tea with Cream ($5.70), Tea with Mousse ($6.20), Tea with Passion Fruit ($5.70), Tea with Lemon Juice ($5.70), and Tea with Mango ($5.70).
Take note that all outlets are closed during the period of “Circuit Breaker”, with the exception of Fusionopolis branch which is opened for deliveries only.
