With many of our favourite fast food restaurants closing their doors in the current climate, we understand you may be craving a KFC burger, or are wondering when you might get your next Wagamama hit.
Fear not…we have some fabulous fakeaway recipes that you can make at home!
We’ve rounded up our top fakeaway and fast food swaps below, bringing you delicious and healthy versions of your favourite takeaway food!
If you’ve been hankering for the crispy, savoury goodness that only food from the golden arches can provide, look no further.
Our Chicken Goujons are a fancier version of nuggets and they take less than 30 minutes from fridge to table, less time than going to the drive thru!
Serve with Homemade Chips and a salad on the side.
A flavourful meat kebab is an absolute winner when you want the takeaway feeling but would rather skip the extra calories.
Chicken Gyros Kebabs go great with pitta and Greek Salad, Chicken Tikka Kebabs are better than any you’ll find in the supermarket fridge, and the Beef Kofta Kebabs are a divine slimming version of the ones you’d find at a food truck on your lunch break!
Crispy fresh calzones made healthier at home? Yes please!
No need to keep peeking behind the curtains looking for the delivery driver with this one – our Chicken and Sweetcorn Calzone is a real treat that feels indulgent but much healthier than the original!
Liven up pizza night with our Domino’s Pepperoni Passion, Texas BBQ and Chicken Feast recipes too.
Serve with Chunky Chips and a pile of fresh salad.
No list of takeaway favourites would be complete without a shout out to one of our favourite fast food restaurants: KFC.
Whether you’re going for the KFC Rice Box, or the Zinger Burger Fakeaway, we have loads of delicious KFC chicken-y options to choose from.
If you remember the viral storm the Chizza caused, you can even recreate that too.
Add Gravy, Chips and Coleslaw then enjoy squabbling with the kids over who gets the chicken leg pieces!
We love visiting Wagamama and their Firecracker Chicken is so tasty, it’s practically the real life version of the fire emoji.
We just had to recreate it at home, and when it’s served alongside fluffy rice, Spicy Baked Tempura and our Edamame and Carrot Asian Salad it’s simply divine.
For the less brave among us, the Katsu Chicken Curry is milder, but of course you can vary the chilli to your taste.
Freshly baked pastries are a thing of beauty, but often off limits on slimming and Weight Watchers diets. Not any more!
We’ve used some ingenious swaps to bring you not only Sausage Rolls but also Scotch Eggs and wonderfully savoury pasties in Beef and Onion Pasties and Cheese and Onion flavours.
Try our Apple Strudels if you have a sweet tooth, too!
Ah, our favourite: the cheeky Nando’s.
If you’re pining for peri-peri and all the trimmings, we have got you covered!
Our oh-so-popular Nando’s Peri Peri Chicken can be the base of so many meals: serve with jacket potatoes or Creamy Mashed Potatoes and vegetables, or go for the full Nando’s experience and pop it on the table guilt free with our Nando’s Spicy Rice, Coleslaw and fries.
Protein packed veggies combined with tender meat and can be left bubbling away while you get on with your day – who needs fast food anyway?
This warming Mexican Chilli Beef is great with fluffy rice or a baked tortilla (they go crispy in the oven!).
Pop the leftovers in the freezer for a quick lunch on another day.
Try our twist on a different classic, Enchilada Lasagne and serve this up with Mexican Slaw and Mexican Corn on the Cob.
Don’t forget the Churros for pudding!
The busy lives we lead usually mean it’s inevitable that we indulge in the odd coffee shop lunch and high calorie flavoured coffee.
Switch the usual panini or calorie laden sandwich for a Cheese and Onion Toastie, and save the calories and the £££ with a Nom twist on the Pumpkin Spice Latte.
Pop a Chocolate Brownie on the side and you’ll never want to go back!
If you’d prefer a lighter dish, our Tomato, Basil and Mozzarella Salad tastes amazing and feels fancy for a weekday lunch.
As the weather starts hotting up, we’d usually flock to beer gardens for a refreshing tipple.
There’s no need to feel like you’re missing out with our wonderfully light Strawberry Mojito Jellies for dessert.
For a fruity alcohol treat, try our Elderflower Gin Fizz.
If you’re more of a vodka connoisseur, we have a fruity Raspberry Vodka Fizz.
Celebrate date night in the garden (or in the living room!) with a jug of June Bug or Pina Colada, and you’ll soon decide that ‘staying in’ is the new ‘going out’!
There’s no substitute for dining al fresco at a cosy Italian cafe, right? Wrong!
Our wonderfully rich Chicken Alfredo Tagliatelle is much healthier and cheaper than a visit to a restaurant, and you can enjoy it at home whenever you like!
Farfalloni Con Funghi is a firm favourite from our Facebook group to try, and the Spaghetti alla Puttanesca can be made spicier if you prefer a bit of a kick.
