Ebb & Flow Group’s dark kitchen lab has partnered with AI solutions company, SQREEM to analyse more than 200,000 data points to find out flavours, ingredients, consumer preferences and trends that people liked. Arising from these insights, Wrap Bstrd was born offering an exclusively delivery-only menu. Serving an assortment of local dishes with a playful twist, these wraps are not your average salad wraps.

I got my hands on the Cheesy Bulgogi Beef Wrap, Char Siew Rice Wrap, Chicken Satay Rice Wrap, Cauliflower Butter Curry Wrap and Spicy Chicken Indomie Wrap.

Wrap Bstrd Char Siew Rap

The Char Siew Rice Wrap (S$10) was a beaut, with succulent slices of char siew enveloped in a toasted tortilla. To complement the piquant notes from the ABC garlic sauce, it was stuffed with fresh romaine lettuce, a runny sunny side up egg, crispy wanton skin and a dab of mayonnaise.

The char siew was incredibly gratifying and immaculately balanced, leading to the right fat to meat ratio and was decadence in every bite. The sweet and savoury glaze coated my palate with sweet ecstasy whilst the chilli sauce added a tangy splash with the perfect amount of zing. It was all in all, a satisfyingly sweet and spicy flavour combination. The accompanying and disparate ingredients melded beautifully together, creating a tortilla pocket full of flavour.

Wrap Bstrd Bulgogi Kimchi Wrap

This wrap really hit the spot for me and it’s my absolute favourite. It’s Seoul good! The Cheesy Bulgogi Beef Wrap (S$12.80) is stuffed with sliced beef doused with a house special Bulgogi sauce embedded on a bed of fresh romaine lettuce and jasmine rice. Slathered with mayonnaise, mozzarella cheese and tangy Korean kimchi sauce, it offered an interesting and intricate medley of flavours and textures.

The thinly sliced beef was meltingly tender, sweet and savoury. The kimchi added a pack of flavour and umami funk, elevating the wrap with a spicy yet smooth and delicate crunch. I appreciated that it was not too sour to cause my tongue to recoil, and instead was perfectly balanced.

The mozzarella cheese gave it a touch of elegance, giving it a sharp but creamy mouthfeel. The rich flavours complemented one another but were light enough to not overpower the other components of the dish.

Wrap Bstrd Chicken

The next wrap was inspired by a crowd favourite, satay. The Chicken Satay Rice Wrap (S$9.90) was literally a complete satay meal, wrapped in a tortilla. It featured tender chicken chunks, ketupat rice pieces, red onions all on a bed of lettuce and coated with a homemade satay sauce that is to die for.

The sauce brought an intense smokey flavour that rounded out the sweetness from the chicken and vegetables. The crispy wanton skin and bits of peanut added a crunch to each bite that perfectly contrasted the otherwise soft wrap, creating an addictive mouthfeel.

A slight spice brought about by the onions enhanced the various flavour profiles, making every mouthful even more savoury and sumptuous. I don’t think anything could’ve gone wrong by repackaging this national classic into a warm, toasted tortilla.

Wrap Bstrd Vegetarian Wrap

For all my vegetarian readers, I haven’t forgotten about you and neither has Wrap Bstrd! Their sole vegetarian option, The Cauliflower Butter Curry Wrap (S$8.80), is mainly made up of roasted cauliflower chunks and perfectly fried tater tots. The star of the show, however, is the house special butter curry that packs so much flavour. With the deep roast on the cauliflower adding a smokey depth to the curry, the sauce took over, carrying all its savoury notes in its velvety smooth consistency.

A dab of mayonnaise further enhanced the creaminess of the sauce, pushing the sauce to a different level. Each ingredient working in tandem, it’s no wonder this wrap is the ultimate vegetarian guilty pleasure.

Wrap Bstrd Indomee Wrap

The Spicy Chicken Indomie Wrap (S$8.80) is inspired by warung-style indomie. A guilty pleasure boasting Southeast Asian flavours, we have been graced with tender chicken breasts and indomie on fresh romaine lettuce. Accompanied by a runny sunny side up egg, crispy wanton skin, mayonnaise, and ABC garlic chilli sauce snug in a toasted tortilla wrap.

This exuberant Indonesian-inspired wrap made a lasting impression with its savoury, sweet and spicy combination. A robust flavour with a little spicy kick to it, I wholeheartedly think this should be on your bucket list if you are an indomie lover.
